Spider Calendar FAQ 10 years 1 month ago #10686

I am brand new, trying to use WordPress for website. I want to add a calendar to my home page. I was able to download, I believe, Spider-event-calendar. It is in a folder which appears quite large. However, I do not know how to add it to my Wordpress file. BlueHost is my hosting service for my WordPress site. Any help as to how to add the calendar to my site would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dear customer,

Have you activated the plugin? If you have already activated the plugin from plugins page, you should create your calendar and add events to it. After that, you should go to your page or post and click on Spider Calendar logo in TinyMCE editor. A pop-up window will open. You should select your created calendar here, set other options an click "Insert". Afterwards, you should publish the page or post. You can read more about it in WordPress Spider Calendar User Manual guidance: web-dorado.com/spider-calendar-wordpress-guide-step-1.html

Thank you for the quick reply. Not sure about activation, but I will, then follow your instructions, which I have printed to use as a Guide. Thank you for telling me about visiting the WordPress Spider Calendar User Manual for Guidance which I will have on another computer screen for reference as I install my calendar.
As I read your email, perhaps you could answer another question: In WordPress, how do I insert a Hot Link, like the one you have provided to me in your email. For example, say I want to insert the "web-dorado.com/spider ..." or just a hot link to my village: "www.morelandhills.com" on one of my WordPress pages I setup for links. On the other hand, let me poke around the forum for the answer. Thanks again for the support.

Let me work on it; it appears that I do not even know how to ask my question. I am getting way ahead of myself in learning WordPress How To. First, let me get the Spider Calendar under control on my site, then look at How To insert Links into WordPress on a single page, and in documents. You guys are very helpful, but I need to do some work on my part.

I have a couple of different questions and don't know where to put them - I have Spider Calendar WordPress - which is good, and I like the use of categories, but in a side bar mode/ list mode, I would like to switch off the option of having a key, which can then select which category to display, as it displays very poorly (overlapping). Also can you change the number of events that can be seen in the list view?

Dear Matthew,

Do you want to remove categories below the widget calendar ? As for the number of events in list view, unfortunately WordPress Spider Calendar doesn't have such functionality.

Thanks for fast reply - the issue os that the key for the categories displays poorly below the list in the widget calendar. Therefore either to remove them or to display them better.

Once an event is opened, it will not close by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.

This is a silly question, but I can't find a way of selecting an end date to extend an event over several days. What am I doing wrong?

Dear Lawrence,

Unfortunately you can't extend your event to be longer than a day, but you can create recurring event.
