How do I remove the 'Home' page title from the home page. All the css I have tried has failed so the only way I have managed to do this is by leaving the title of this page blank.

Ah, Just noticed that has removed the title from all posts (news) as well but not other pages.

For some reason it treats my home page is a post although the home page was created from a page not a post. I noticed something was odd when I tried to only show excerpts on my posts - this resulted my only an excerpt being shown on my home page.

Is there a reason why the Home Page always acts like a Post even though it was created as a Page? My posts are shown on a page I have called News. On this page I would like to only show excerpts but when I select this option the Home Page also only shows an excerpt.

It is a static page created by me. If I change the home page to another page, that page then takes on the properties of a post page.

Could you please check your News page? If your home page would act as a post, it would appear in the listing of that page. Moreover, its body element has a class named page. If it were a post, it would have a class named single-post.

It's not listed in my news page. The only reason I say it 'acts like a post' is I would like to show only excerpts on my news page.

If I try to set this via: Settings > Reading > Summary it has no effect

If I try via: Appearance > Exclusive Options > General > Blog style post format I get an excerpt on the news page BUT the home page content also becomes an excerpt.

As we understand correctly, you need to display post previews on your News page, but when you set it from Theme options, your Homepage shows as a preview to its page.
