I have reached the point in development where I need to add CSS code to style.css to do some simple things like

body {
color: #333;
}

but it makes no difference. It's as if it's not even reading the file, except that the following is being read okay.

@import url('../business-elite/style.css');
body {
background: url('images/flower-background.jpg');
}

I've also tried adding the code to Appearance->Customize->Additional CSS. but to no avail.
