This is what I get while creating a simple product list Menu Item on a fresh install of Joomla 3.6.4 with Spider Catalog 1.8.10 Lite

In console log I get:

HTML1521: Unexpected "</body>" or end of file. All open elements should be closed before the end of the document.
File: index.php, Line: 461, Column: 1

I am having the same problem. There is no menu item. Big hit right out of the box. That is not good.

The problem was that jElement class was missing from your Joomla platform for some reason. Our developers have implemented a workaround, which checks if it is not present, Spider Catalog includes it.
