hyperlink to slideshow

Marc created the topic: hyperlink to slideshow

hello all,
I am just getting familiar with this plugin. I was wondering if there is a way that I can add a text hyperlink to a slideshow? I have been able to populate a slideshow using the shortcode, but was wondering if I can add a secondary text link?

You can see what I am attempting to achieve on the following page. I am wanting to hyperlink the Photo Gallery text to the same Gallery above it.
ccg.ccgproof.com/visual-media/photography-galleries/

Ideas?

Hello Marc!

Thank you for your question!

Unfortunately links cannot be placed on slides specifically. But you can use Alt/Title and Description fields to add hyperlinks. Please make sure to use the following format:

<a href=" google.com " style="font-size: 15px">Title text here</a>
<a href=" google.com " style="font-size: 15px">Description text here</a>

Let me know in case there's anything else I can assist you with.
Thank you! Have a great day!

Hello Agapi,
I was not talking about links directly on slides. I was asking about having another link within the same <div> that would be a text link pointing to the same slideshow that is above. I was able to get into the BWGViewImage_browser.php and edit the following lines: 250-253

<a style="position:relative;" <?php echo ($params == 'open_lightbox' ?
(' class="bwg_lightbox_' . $bwg . '" data-image-id="' . $image_row->id . '"') : ($params == 'redirect_to_url'
&& $image_row->redirect_url ? 'href="' . $image_row->redirect_url . '" target="' .
($params ? '_blank' : '') . '"' : '')) ?>>
<img class="bwg_image_browser_img_<?php echo $bwg; ?>"
src="<?php echo site_url() . '/' . $WD_BWG_UPLOAD_DIR . $image_row->image_url; ?>"
alt="<?php echo $image_row->alt; ?>" />
</a>

I then edited this line with the following in order to find the appropriate area to add a linked text:

<a style="position:relative;" <?php echo ($params == 'open_lightbox' ?
(' class="bwg_lightbox_' . $bwg . '" data-image-id="' . $image_row->id . '"') :
($params == 'redirect_to_url' && $image_row->redirect_url ?
'href="' . $image_row->redirect_url . '" target="' . ($params ? '_blank' : '') . '"' : '')) ?>>
<img class="bwg_image_browser_img_<?php echo $bwg; ?>"
src="<?php echo site_url() . '/' . $WD_BWG_UPLOAD_DIR . $image_row->image_url; ?>"
alt="<?php echo $image_row->alt; ?>" />

<span style=";height: 20px;width: 50px;position: absolute;bottom: -126px;z-index:9;
color: #333;background: red;font-size: 16px;">Photo Gallery</span>

</a>

From there I was able to move further down the same file and add the following
code to get what I was looking for. I added this one Line 352 before the last closing
</div> and the closing </form>:

<a style="position:relative;" <?php echo ($params == 'open_lightbox' ?
(' class="bwg_lightbox_' . $bwg . '" data-image-id="' . $image_row->id . '"') :
($params == 'redirect_to_url' && $image_row->redirect_url ?
'href="' . $image_row->redirect_url . '" target="' . ($params ? '_blank' : '') . '"' : '')) ?>>
<span style="height: 20px;width: 50px;position: absolute;bottom: -126px;z-index: 9;
color: #333;background: red;font-size: 16px;">Photo Gallery</span>
</a>

Is there a way that I can use this in a template so if the plugin is updated, I do not lose this functionality?

Hello Marc!

Thank you so much for sharing the workaround you implemented! Unfortunately you will need to edit the files of Photo Gallery after each update and implement this code again. You can install an update not every week, but once in 2-3 weeks.

Hope this works for you.
Thanks! Have a great day!
