Has any one had a problem with not receiving emails from forms with a gmail email.

Have you tried to use an email server other than Gmail? If another email server is not working also then probably your hosting is restricting to set email addresses From field if it's not in the same domain.
If this is not the case, give us (to [email protected]) admin access to your site and we'll try to fix the problem as soon as possible.

should the cache directory be on or off for the form to send emails

If the form is submitted normally then the cache is not a problem.

So is normal just entering a email like ([email protected]) would that be normal. I enter a title and email address then make my form and save, please confirm

Please help Urgent I have a large public website in which I use your form maker software to make forms such as enquiries from customer adverts but the emails sent have not been received.
I am unable to give you log in details but would like information to make sure all settings are correct I am running joomla 2.5.9 please respond as if I can't make this work I will have to change all clients to their older method of contact.

First of all go to the admin panel and under the Site->Global Configuration page select the Server tab and check you Mail Settings.
Try to change the From address to an email that uses the same domain as your site ex. [email protected] (some hosting services does not allow to use an email with different domain name)

Go to the admin panel and under the User menu select the Mass Mail option and try to send an email to a user other than the one you are logged in with. If it fails to send the email then contact your hosting service.

Or you can change the Joomla Mail settings as such:

Set the Mailer in Mail Settings to: SMTP
SMTP Authentication: yes
SMTP Security: SSL
SMTP Port: 465
SMTP Username: your gmail full address
SMTP Password: your gmail password
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com

Hello, I started working on form maker just yesterday, I was able to create a form with a specific email to be sent it to. I check the email I specified but until now, I got nothing.

I am working in wordpress, My global email used is the same as the email I used in the form it will be sent.

Does using PHP mail(wordpress) affect the process? Since what I saw below is SMTP

Kindly please note, that this forum topic refers to Joomla Form Maker, and not WordPress, so the settings are different.

However, let me describe what kind of steps you can take to solve this problem on WordPress. Firstly please make sure e-mails are not sent to spam or junk folder. You can also try one of the following:

- Test with another e-mail address as Email to send submissions to value, preferably hosted on the same domain as your site,
- Wordpress uses PHP mail, perhaps sendmail is disabled on your website. Please contact your hosting provider upon this matter.
- Alternatively, you can set up SMTP, which shall always work.

Here’s a plugin that you can use: wordpress.org/plugins/webriti-smtp-mail/ . There are several more on WordPress.org, feel free to check them out.

You can set GMail as your external SMTP server, however, GMail requires authentication. Please see the necessary details for setup below:

Mailer: smtp
SMTP Authentication: yes
SMTP Security: SSL
SMTP Port: 465
SMTP Username: your gmail full address
SMTP Password: your gmail password
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com

I was also having not emails sent from my Form Maker form with Wordpress. Then I installed an SMTP plugin. Now I got a step further. I get a message that a sign in attempt was prevented. Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account [email protected] from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards. They went on to say: We strongly recommend that you use a secure app, like Gmail, to access your account. All apps made by Google meet these security standards. Using a less secure app, on the other hand, could leave your account vulnerable.

Our development team has tested the mailing function without SMTP, and the mails seemed to go through. But the problem might be with the content, that is being submitted.

Could you please attach a screenshot of what you are trying to submit? If you also could paste the text in a file and attach it to this post, that would be great.

Looks like this issue is occurring because of a limitation on your web hosting. Could you please contact your provider and ask them to take a look?

Or alternatively you can continue using the SMTP plugin, I checked with our development team and they are saying, that there shouldn't be any security-related problems.

You can try another plugin, in case you are not sure about this one.

3. Alternatively, you can use an SMTP plugin, which will most probably resolve the problem.
