I had the contact form on the front page of Sauron but it doesn't work correctly (cannot enter text into the fields). I was using the option from the appearance dashboard, so not sure how to fix this.

Most probably there is a Javascript conflict with a plugin installed to your website. Could you please give us temporary admin access, so we can take a look? Please send the login information using the contact form on this page .
