FAQ placement on a web page
Barry Mossman created the topic: FAQ placement on a web page
Is there a way that I can control where your FAQ displays on a page?
It seems to display at the top of the page regardless of where I put it.
If this as designed it is a pity because it reduces the general applicability of your excellent widget.
eg. If I have a page which contains a lot of information. I could simplify the page by initially hiding some of the advanced material inside one of your "questions". The page would be simplified as the question would initially be collapsed, and only people wanting to read the advanced material would expand it.
This would simplify the page to general users, and look good, as it would have the same look and feel that I have in my FAQ page.
It would also allow me to place specific "questions" in pages where they are relevant, as well as in my FAQ page
It would be nice if I could:
* control the placement your widget
* be able to request a FAQ|Category or FAQ|Category|Question, rather than just a FAQ.

Dear Barry,
You can place the shortcode of the FAQ wherever you want in the page. Can you please tell us your issue more detailed ? Can you please give us a link to your page and tell us where exactly you want to place it ?

I'm not talking about where I place the short code.
I was meaning where the "questions" appear on the rendered page. They always appear at the top of the page.
Example
This on the top. Would like this to display above the FAQ.
[Spider_FAQ id=3 ]
This should display under the FAQ.
The FAQ is always rendered at the top of the page
ie. above both text lines.
Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Great. That looks better.
What a quick response!
What did you do?
Is there any way that I can reduce the large blank vertical space between the FAQ and the following text line on the page? Will I have any control over this when I move to the paid version of Spider FAQ?
The large blank gap will detract a little from my plan to use spider questions in-line to simplify pages. See my Prerequisites page. Following your change I moved a sample question in-line there to where I would like to have one.
The large blank gap between the collapsed "question" and the rest of the page looks unnatural, and could cause someone to not notice that there is following material.

Hi:
I have the very same problem: no matter where I put the shortcode, the FAQ is rendered on top.
Could you please explain how you fixed it?

dear support, it seems you know where the issue in the different themes are and thus you should be able to give general description on what is going on!!
Personally i do not like giving some strangers admin rights no matter what!!

Agapi G. replied the topic: FAQ placement on a web page
Dear Simon,
Unfortunately, these type of problems are usually conflicts with website themes. So a general solution is hard to come up to, since different themes have different code.
As for the issue you are facing, could you please give the link to your FAQ page, so we can have a closer look at the problem?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Agapi G.
