Refreshing form data after leaving a field

Jörg Bothmann created the topic: Refreshing form data after leaving a field

It's about FormMaker for Wordpress

Hey there,
I just purchased the pro version for form maker.
Now I ask you, if there is a posibility to refresh the form after leaving a field.
I need the refresh to search the database for possible entries in the next selection box.

For example :
a) Field 1 contains "cat1"
after leaving this field, execute SQL-Query "SELECT value FROM xyz WHERE searchfor =LIKE {Field 1}% in the "Select options from database"
in Field 2

b) This will give me a list of all the needet items to select one in field 2

Thanks for a reply, best regards : Jörg

Hello Jörg!

Thank you for posting your request!

If we understand your questions correctly, you'd like the form to perform the following action. If a value is provided for field 1, the database is searched and corresponding options appear on your field2.

In case this is your request, unfortunately the plugin doesn't have this functionality.

There is a workaround, however. You can add multiple select boxes for field2, using Select Options from Database setting. You will need to separate each type of values into different database tables, then configure to corresponding fields.

Afterwards, you can add a checkbox for your field1, provide the values, then configure conditions from Conditional Fields. You can set a select box to display, if a certain option is selected on field1.

Hope this works for you.
Thanks! Have a wonderful day!

Thank your for your replay!

Unfortunately, the workaround does not fit, because the content of Field_1 can have one of hundreds of values, depending on the contents of the table!

So I need access to the contents of field_1 after it has received a value when exiting or after pressing Enter, so
when the validation is starting!
The data from Field_1 are nevertheless in the frontend, because the option "Required" is already accessed, right?
And now I would like to access this value at the next selection in Field_2, for example via {Field_1}, or {3}, or ...

Is this really impossible?
I would not understand it!

I like to repeat the request to the form :

Field_1
- is Select Box
- Select Options from Database/Table DB1/tbl1
- WHERE status = 1 (for example)

Field_2
- is Select Box
- Select Options from Database/Table DB1/tbl2
- WHERE name = {Field_1}

! Event : Leaving field or pressing Enter
!
!
! do with value in Field_1

! Field_2 !

Thank you again: Jörg
