Issue with Form Making - bad email / submit text

Joel Hilke created the topic: Issue with Form Making - bad email / submit text

Hello,

I'm working with Form Maker Pro on a few different websites. On one of them, the submissions stopped working and when I went to the Form Options dialog, I got an error stating that the email address was incorrect. I searched the forum and saw that your solution seems to be to recreate the form due to some garbage info stored somewhere. I deleted and recreated the form in question and this resolved the issue.

I then took the opportunity to modify a form that was working. This form had been designed in the non-Pro version so I took the opportunity to modify the fields, changing the email address field from text to your email formatted text field type.

This caused the form to break and to give me the email address error. I destroyed the form and recreated it and haven't had this problem since.

Perhaps this issue is related to editing forms created in the free version and modifying them in the new or in switching from one text type to another (text -> Email). I deleted all records stored in the database in case the change of field types tripped up existing stored data but that didn't help.

Also, on this one site in particular, the "your form has been submitted" message is not displaying and trying to switch to custom text does not work. I saw that your solution for other users was to log into their websites to resolve (which doesn't help the usefulness of the forum). However, forms on other sites (at least the one I've checked so far) are displaying the message.

Can you let me know if there's a common solution to this issue or will I need to create a message to your support team?

Thanks for your time!

Dear Joel,

Thank you for posting and precisely describing the problem on your Form Maker!

Let us check something on your broken forms, if you have deleted their data, you can test and see if it happens again. Do you recall of having single or double quotation marks on your form? These symbols sometimes damage the form Javascript and that is why this error occurs.

If possible, please avoid those symbols and the problem will not bother you anymore. But let me know if this is not the case and we'll take a closer look.

Thanks, have a beautiful weekend!

I sent login info this morning to the tech support folk.

I did do some test submits in line with previous test (when it had been working). I did not submit any data with any kind of quotes. The website is relatively new and the form hasn't taken many submissions (though not sure how many were attempted when it wasn't working).

Do you mean I should avoid quotes in the design of the form or in the response data people enter?

Dear Joel,

Thank you for e-mailing the details, we are currently trying to get the log in work, perhaps our IP addess is being blocked. I've sent you some details regarding this.

As for your quotation marks, we are working to find a way to avoid conflicts with these symbols, but until then, If you could avoid using them, that would be fantastic.

Thank you!
