Event Description appears with code

Sein Benavides created the topic: Event Description appears with code

I am sure this is a simple problem, but I hadn't used the calendar since September 2014 and it worked perfectly then or shall I say, that I entered event descriptions the same way today, that I did last year. But when I copy and paste (again like I used to) from somewhere else, it won't allow me to do this is visual so I switch to text and get this:

Please join the L.U.C.E.R.O. Program in celebrating the 5th Annual Cesar Chavez Day at the Dart Auditorium, this Friday from 9:30am to 11:00am.\\r\\nCesar E. Chavez was a farm worker rights activist, and was one of the founders of the National Farm Workers Association (now known as the United Farm Workers union). His breakthrough work has brought about many rights for farm workers in general, including the right to unionize.\\r\\nWe will be holding the event at the Dart Auditorium, with guest speakers sharing their experiences, and how Cesar Chavez's accomplishments have affected them, and us.\\r\\n\\r\\n<a href=" www.cafecitocaliente.com/wp-content/uplo...jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-13229" src=" www.cafecitocaliente.com/wp-content/uplo...-27-300x239.jpg" ; alt="LUCERO 5th Annual 2015-5-27" width="300" height="239" /></a>

Yes I just typed it in multiple times on different posts. What I have noticed is that if I keep it as one paragraph, then I get what I want. But if I hit the space bar to start another paragraph, then it will bunch up with the little code separating the words buuuuuuuuuuuut all of it in one paragraph. Not sure what all that means?

Also, when I tried to upload a flyer (which also was never a problem in the past), I only get code, no flyer/picture.

This same thing seems to happen on my Event Calendar now.

I can put text in the description on one line and it shows correctly. If I try to add a Paragraph it adds /r/n/r in its place and shows it on the site.

I could put text in either the visual window or the text window and the same thing happens.

Did you get yours working yet?

Jeremy replied the topic: Event Description appears with code (FIX)

They wouldn't tell me what they did to fix the problem but I compared the before and after code with the changes they made. When using a program called examdiff I found they changed the file calendar_functions.php

Line 242 They changed to this:

$description = preg_replace('#<script(.*?)>(.*?)</script>#is', '', stripslashes($_POST["description"]));

Line 297 They changed to this:

$description = preg_replace('#<script(.*?)>(.*?)</script>#is', '', stripslashes($_POST["description"]));

Line 503 They changed to this:

$category = ((isset($_POST)) ? esc_sql(esc_html(stripslashes($_POST))) : '');

Line 504 They Changed to this:

$text_for_date = preg_replace('#<script(.*?)>(.*?)</script>#is', '', stripslashes($_POST["text_for_date"]));
